How this calculation is made
The simulator replays monthly purchases using actually observed prices. Each month of the period, the chosen amount buys the asset at the closing price of the first available data point of the month. The quantity bought equals amount / price, fractions included.
- Indices and stocks: five years of weekly prices, provided by Yahoo Finance in the quotation currency. These prices are adjusted for stock splits but not for dividends: the displayed performance excludes them.
- For an index, we assume an investment that tracks the index exactly, with no fees or dividends. A real index fund deviates slightly from this.
- Cryptocurrencies: daily prices in euros provided by CoinGecko, limited to one year of history due to the public access of their service.
- No brokerage fees, taxes or currency conversion are applied.
The maximum price decline Measures the largest decline between a peak and a subsequent trough over the period. The worst unrealized loss compares, at each date, the value of the portfolio with the sums invested up to that point.
The results are simulations based on the stated assumptions. They do not predict future results and do not take your personal situation into account.
